EMSA Fee "Opt Out" Available Until June 30
City of Tulsa residential utility customers who would like
emergency medical services through EMSA covered for no
out-of-pocket costs during the upcoming year will be billed $3.64
per month. This fee provides enrollment in EMSA's TotalCare program
through June 30, 2012.
Residents who do not wish to pay the EMSA fee through their City
of Tulsa utility bills may opt out by filling out an online form. The form also is
available in the Second Floor Customer Service area of City Hall at
One Technology Center, 175 East Second Street. The City of Tulsa
must receive this completed form before June 30, 2011 or the
customer will be billed for EMSA TotalCare automatically. Customers
also may call Utilities Services at (918) 596-9511 before June 30
to opt out of the program.
EMSA TotalCare through the City of Tulsa includes the following
benefits:
- No out-of-pocket costs for EMSA emergency transports. For
emergency transports, EMSA will collect all available third-party
(insurance, Medicare and Medicaid) dollars and not bill the
customer for out-of-pocket costs.
- No out-of-pocket costs for EMSA non-emergency transports if
third-party coverage pays any portion of the charges. A
non-emergency transport is a medical transfer that does not have a
local hospital emergency room as the final destination.
- Automatic enrollment - no action required to participate in the
program.
