Mayor's Message, continued...

Greetings,
Last week, I presented to the City Council what I like to call, the "Citizens Budget" for the upcoming fiscal year. My administration has been working diligently with the Citizen's Survey and the KPMG study to determine how to streamline government and make government more efficient. By working through the Citizen's Survey and finding the priorities Tulsans want addressed, we focused on code enforcement, public safety, street repair and other items of need in this proposed budget. We will work with the City Council in the upcoming weeks to have the budget finalized and in place for the first of the fiscal year on July 1.

Another item addressed in the Citizen's Survey was the need for private development along the Arkansas River, which showed 78 percent of citizens were in support of development. I am happy to announce that we answered Tulsans requests by opening up a Request for Proposal for the West Bank of the Arkansas River. Potential developers will have the opportunity to submit a proposal for four parcels of land near 23rd and Jackson which could ultimately be used for retail, office, residential, entertainment or mixed-use development. You can view the request for proposal online.

As another fiscal year approaches, we will continue to work on the issues that Tulsans want addressed and I truly look forward to what's to come for Tulsa.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor
