Mayor's Message, continued...
Greetings,
We recently contracted with a firm, URS Corporation, to
develop Tulsa's first Sustainability Plan, which will study
facilities and fleets and other areas where the City can become
more energy efficient and be a role model for our community.
Our sustainability plan is a crucial part of a comprehensive effort
to increase value to the taxpayers and study our organization in
order to find new ways of doing things and better ways to increase
efficiency. We started with the KPMG study. The Tulsa Metropolitan
Utility Authority has engaged a firm to conduct a comprehensive
water assessment, and our citizen survey pointed us in the
direction of matters and issues that are most important to Tulsans
and their way of life.
URS was among a field of 12 companies which submitted proposals,
and was selected by city officials. Within the next few months, URS
will work with City of Tulsa staff and other team members to
develop an overarching document that can be used as a tool when
making decisions and setting policy. This living document will
guide the City toward sustainability, and will complement the
recently completed comprehensive plan, PLANiTULSA, integrating its
goals and objectives with sustainability goals.
Once the plan is complete, the file will be available on the
City of Tulsa web
site.
Best regards,
Mayor Dewey F. Bartlett Jr.
