ONEOK Freedomfest 2011 Offers Safe Alternative For Fireworks

The Fourth of July is near and while fireworks are being sold throughout the metropolitan area, the City of Tulsa's ordinances prohibit the use of fireworks within its corporate boundaries.

The pre-set fine for fireworks violations is $220, but fines of up to $500 can be imposed.

An alternative to do-it-yourself fireworks is Tulsa's largest fireworks display on Monday, July 4 near the 21st Street bridge on the Arkansas River. The Tulsa River Parks Authority and principle sponsor ONEOK will present ONEOK Freedomfest 2011, which includes the fireworks display starting at 9:35 p.m. over the Arkansas River.

More fires are reported on July 4 than on any other day of the year. Avoid accidents and injuries by celebrating this holiday watching one of the largest fireworks displays at River Parks. Prior to the fireworks display, parents can take their kids to the free Kids Zone at River West Festival Park for face-painting, rock-climbing, and inflatable's while enjoying food and drinks from great local vendors.
