Next Phase Begins on Gilcrease Expressway

The third and final phase of construction on 2.2 miles of the Gilcrease Expressway between the L.L. Tisdale Parkway and 41st West Avenue has begun. Completion is scheduled for spring 2012.


New Tulsa Police Graduates

Last Friday, the Tulsa Police Department graduated 40 Police Officers to the police force. Following Friday's graduation, the recruits transitioned to Officers in Training and will complete a 16-week training program with Field Training Officers.


Citizens Asked to Help Conserve Water

Although Tulsa has received some rainfall, the City of Tulsa is still asking customers to help conserve water. Last week the city of Tulsa set numerous water usage level records and temperatures are not predicted to cool down soon.


Upcoming Informational Open Houses on Water Topics

Beginning August 2, the City of Tulsa will host nine informational open houses - one in each council district - to educate Tulsans about water topics such as water treatment and processing, tap water and the City's upcoming conversion from chlorine to chloramine disinfection.

During my recent trip to Washington, D.C., I had the great pleasure of showcasing Tulsa and the strides we are making with economic development. For example, the Brownfields program is a pivotal point within the Environment Protection Agency. We've received federal funds to help us solve EPA issues as we continue cleaning up the Brady District, especially on its east side. I had a fourth meeting with key government people on this matter, further strengthening our relationship.
