Message, continued...

Greetings,

Earlier this week I introduced our 2nd Century energy concept to attendees at the Tulsa Pipeline Expo. Our city is blessed to have companies who manufacture, explore, process goods, manage services and produce products. We have a bright future that can be energized by alternative methods as well.

Tulsa has the right mix of education, entrepreneurial spirit, manufacturing skills, and experience to support legacy energy sources as they become more efficient and environmentally conscious. TU, OSU-Tulsa, OU-Tulsa, Tulsa Community College and Tulsa Tech are paving the way for the best alternative energy methods at this very moment.

The Port of Catoosa has over 40 years of success with $161 million in leasing revenue and 60 new businesses employ over 3,000. Its private business investment is nearly $1 billion.

Tulsa has the largest inland, ice-free navigable waterway west of the Mississippi River. When we complete our Intermodal plan at the Tulsa International Airport, we will move commerce by rail, Interstate highways, air and water to and from the world without a single stop on either U.S. coast.

We are looking to switch to Compressed Natural Gas as a primary fuel for our vehicle fleet, including CNG cars and trucks and open a public-use CNG station this fall.

Tulsa is truly a central destination for industry progress. Through our 2nd Century energy, we will experience an unparalleled creation of economic opportunity, measured by a significant expansion of jobs and entrepreneurial growth. I am confident that the best is yet to come for our great city.

Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
