Mayor's Message, continued...
Greetings,
Parks are at the core of our communities and the City's task is to
strengthen them and make them places where we can show our pride.
We are now beginning to implement the first phases of the Parks
Master Plan, which is to lay out a vibrant park system for the
future.
This plan was created by the Park Board and volunteers who
worked for several months on committees. The plan was approved by
the City Council and made part of the PlaniTulsa comprehensive
plan.
Within the next 90 days, we will begin the demolition of
neglected structures, immediately followed by the construction of
new facilities which fit into the neighborhoods and will be
supported and used by Tulsans. These improvements, as well as an
established and maintained park system, will not only bring people
together, but will have a direct relationship to increasing
neighborhood property values - a bonus to residents in the
area.
Parks are places where everyone can be equal, whether we are
playing, listening, observing, reading or just resting. They are
the fabric of our community and are woven into our memories to
become as familiar as the rooms of our childhood homes. Our
commitment to Parks is an essential part of what our City is and
what we will become.
Best regards,
Dewey Bartlett
Mayor of Tulsa
