Caring Adults Needed to Mentor Tulsa's Youth

January is National Mentoring Month, the time of year when our nation and the city shine a spotlight on the need for every child to have a caring, supportive adult in his or her life.

Mayor Bartlett's Mentoring to the Max initiative is a public awareness program that calls for caring adults to get involved in children's lives.

Mentoring helps prepare young people for the future by building character and boosting confidence. It helps keeps them in school and encourages them to succeed.

Mayor Bartlett says, "In spite of the proven benefits, thousands of young people in Tulsa still need help achieving their fullest potential. Every child needs a positive role model in their life. Mentoring makes a difference and can transform lives and an entire community. I encourage Tulsans to share their gifts that will enhance a child's life and education."

The need is great and the time is now! Just one hour a week can make a difference in a child's life. Call 211 today and say you'll volunteer to change the life of a young person.
