BeGreenTulsa.com is a resource point for businesses and individuals seeking ways to be more energy efficient and environmentally aware. As citizens, we all share in the responsibility to lessen our impact on the environment, and as your Mayor, I have the responsibility to save tax dollars by making sure local government is as energy efficient as possible. We know that Being Green is about more than recycling or saving energy. It is about creating a vibrant economy that improves our quality of life. Ultimately, it is about a Tulsa that we can hand to the next generation a little better than when we found it. Together, let¹s BeGreen!

Adriana Rodriguez of Hamilton Middle School has won the Sustainable Energy Essay Contest, held by Tulsa Public Schools and the City of Tulsa.
"I'm thrilled to announce the essay contest winner," said Mayor Kathy Taylor. "Adriana's essay, 'Sustainable Energy: It's Important to Our Community,' clearly stated her thoughts on why our country and the whole world must look closely at sustainable energy sources, and develop whatever technology required to make them affordable and accessible to everyone."
Taylor also announced second and third place winners, respectively, Ryan Bunch and Brienna Milleson, both of Thoreau Demonstration Academy.
The schools of the respective winners will receive a variety of educational materials for their libraries. The materials have been donated by Global New Energy Solutions (NES), the company that is sponsoring a nationwide educational effort on the topic of sustainable fuels.
In addition, Global NES has constructed a 30-foot wind turbine at the site of the Helmzar Ropes Course, 1006 N. Quaker in Tulsa.
A Renewable Energy Celebration and Fair will be held at the site on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 2:30 p.m..
