City seeks comment on application for Brownfield clean-up grant

ARCHIVED PRESS RELEASE: Published 11-14-2011

The public is invited to comment on the City of Tulsa's application for a Brownfields Clean-Up Grant from the Environmental Protection Agency for the Evans-Fintube site located at 150 and 186 North Lansing Ave. "Brownfield sites" means real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant.

The City will receive comments and questions regarding this grant application and the North Tulsa Brownfields Strategic Action Plan at a public meeting on Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the North Mabee Boys & Girls Club Auditorium Room, 3001 N. Cincinnati Ave. Refreshments will be served from 6 to 6:30 p.m., and a presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a time for questions and answers.

The draft proposal for the Evans-Fintube clean-up grant will include an analysis of Brownfields clean-up alternatives and information about the site. The draft will summarize information about the site's contamination issues, cleanup standard, applicable laws and the proposed cleanup.

On Wednesday, Nov. 16, the City of Tulsa will post a copy of the draft proposal on the City website for public review and comments. A final proposal will be posted on the City website by Nov. 28. Questions and comments may be directed to Adrienne Russ, (918) 584-7880 or aruss@cityoftulsa.org.
