Stationary Engineer II
Under general supervision performs skilled operation of high pressure boilers, refrigeration, and heating equipment, and other types of stationary mechanical equipment, and other related assigned duties assigned.

Essential Job Functions:
Operates, maintains, and performs preventive maintenance on a
variety of stationary mechanical equipment
Operates both high and low pressure steam boilers, refrigeration
and heating equipment, turbines, pumps, and related auxiliary
equipment
Takes readings at scheduled times of air and steam temperatures,
water flow gauges, boiler feed gauges, and yard water gauges
Maintains log sheets on all equipment readings
Tests and monitors various systems for proper performance
Assists in the general repair and maintenance of boilers, air
conditioning, and heating equipment, steam turbines, pumps, and
associated equipment
Insulates steam pipes and boilers
Does minor steam fitting work
Operates and maintains light to medium automotive
equipment
Must report to work on a regular and timely basis

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational
Development Certificate (GED), and four (4) years of responsible
experience in the operation of various stationary mechanical
equipment as a first class stationary engineer; or an equivalent
combination of training and experience per Personnel Policies and
Procedures, Section 128.
Good knowledge of the operating principles and capabilities of a
variety of stationary mechanical equipment; good knowledge of the
methods and practices of operating and maintaining high pressure
boilers, steam electric generating equipment, pumping equipment,
and heating and air conditioning equipment; and good
knowledge of the occupational hazards of the job and of appropriate
precautionary measures. Ability to detect and correct problems of
operation or adjustment in equipment; ability to maintain complete
and accurate records of plant operations; and the ability to
courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers,
supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public in
giving and receiving information.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include frequent walking and occasional
standing; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to
60 pounds or more; frequent reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling,
handling, feeling, climbing, smelling, and twisting; occasional
crawling; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the
essential tasks.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a First Class Unlimited Stationary Engineer's License
as issued by the City of Tulsa and possession of a valid Oklahoma
Class "D" Operator's License; some positions within this
classification may require: a valid appropriate Commercial Driver's
License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements, an appropriate
Water/Wastewater License, and/or a Mechanical Journeyman License
(Unlimited) as issued by the Department of Environmental Quality
(DEQ); and some positions within this classification may require an
EPA/CFC certification (chlorofluorocarbon) as issued per Section
608 of the Clean Air Act of 1990.
Skills Tests Required:
Writing and/or physical skills assessments may be administered as
needed for each position.
Working Environment:
Working environment is primarily indoors, occasionally
outdoors, and in inclement weather. May be exposed to the
following: hazardous materials, flammable liquids, cramped work
areas, weather/temperature extremes, cutting/chipping/grinding,
hazardous/toxic atmospheres, sewage, damp/wet surfaces, overhead
power lines, toxic fumes/vapors/odors, compressed gases, high
noises, and oily surfaces. Hours: Sunday - Thursday 8:00 am -4:00
pm, may vary depending on business need; nights, weekends,
overtime, callback may be required.
