About the Mayor
Mayor Kathy Taylor is really on the move! As mayor of Tulsa, she
has been instrumental in making big changes in areas like public
safety, government efficiency, education, and economic development.
She is also active in numerous education and non-profit entities in
Oklahoma.
Mayor Taylor is especially invested in the health and wellbeing
of Tulsa families. She has been recognized for her efforts with the
Mayor's Fitness Challenge and other fitness-related initiatives.
She received the 2007 Distinguished Public Official Award from the
Oklahoma Fit Kids Coalition for improving the health of Oklahoma
youth.
She also serves on numerous boards and commissions dedicated to
keeping Tulsans healthy, including the Tulsa Parks and Recreation
Board and Fox23's Move It Board.
She participated as one of the Tulsa Run's 2008 Celebrity
Runners and trained with Bank of Oklahoma executive Mike Bradshaw.
Mayor Taylor also led "Team Taylor" City of Tulsa employees in
getting fit by participating in Corporate Challenge events against
BOk's "Bradshaw's Backers."
October 25, 2008, Mayor Taylor ran the Tulsa Run with Team
Taylor in Training, a group of students from McLain High School and
Gilcrease Middle School who were selected to participate in a
special training program leading up to the run. Team Taylor in
Training provided the students with a fun, fitness experience to
last a lifetime and established meaningful mentoring relationships.
The training also helped the teenagers develop important character
traits such as perseverance and the motivation to excel.
Whether at her desk or on the running trail, Mayor Kathy Taylor
is dedicated to the health of Tulsans. Don't forget to check out
