Child Passenger Safety
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading
cause of death for the age group 2 to 14 years old (based on 2004
figures, which are the latest mortality data currently available
from the National Center for Health Statistics). Every day in the
United States, an average of 5 children age 14 and younger were
killed and 568 were injured in motor vehicle crashes during 2006.
Because of these stastics the Tulsa Fire Department has taken an
active roll in Child Passenger Safety. We have over 70 certified
child passenger safety technicians through out the department
whom are able to check and install child restraint systems (car
seats). The Tulsa Fire Department offers a free car seat check-up
event every third Thursday of the month at Fire Station 22 located
at 7303 E. 15th St. Tulsa OK. 74135. from 2 - 4 p.m.
If you need a car seat installed or
have any questions regarding child passenger safety call (918)
596-9444 and ask for a public education officer.
