2024 Building Code Update

The State of Oklahoma OUBCC has adopted the 2024 ICC Building codes on September 14, 2026. The adoption includes the 2024 International Building Code, 2024 International Existing Building Code, 2024 International Residential code, 2024 International Fire Code, 2024 International Plumbing Code, 2024 International Mechanical code, 2024 international Fuel Gas code and previously adopted the 2023 National Electric Code. Updates to the City of Tulsa ordinances for the 2024 ICC building codes and 2023 NEC are currently in progress with a pending adoption date of January 1, 2027. Plan submittals received after the adoption timeline will be required to comply with newly adopted codes.

• Schedule an inspection using the Self-Service Portal. (Monday inspections may not be scheduled in the portal. Call (918) 596-9656 to schedule an inspection for a Monday.)
• Check the status of all required permits by address using the Self-Service portal. A final building inspection may only be scheduled once the status of all required permits is complete.

  • Purpose – To identify and discuss any concerns prior to the start of construction.
  • Participants – Developer, contractor, Inspection Services staff and others as required.
