Having a working smoke detector increases your chances of survival by 50 percent. Properly maintained smoke detectors save lives. Smoke detectors need to be checked every month and the batteries replaced once per year. Replace your detectors every 8-10 years.

To receive a free smoke detector you must own your home, live within the city limits of Tulsa and be financially unable to afford a smoke detector.

It is the sole responsibility of the property owner/landlord to provide a working smoke detector for tenants/renters according to 907.2.10.5 from the Fire Prevention Code of the City of Tulsa.

The Tulsa Fire Department offers a free car seat check-up event every third Thursday of the month at Fire Station 22 located at 7303 E. 15th St. Tulsa OK. 74135 from 10 a.m.- Noon.

If you need a car seat installed or have any questions regarding child passenger safety,  contact the Tulsa Fire Department Public Education office at (918)596-9420.
