City of Tulsa to Celebrate Ninth Annual 918 Day

Citywide Celebrations Include Mayor’s ‘Monroe On the Go’ Tour, Second Annual Passport Challenge

The City of Tulsa is ready for its ninth annual 918 Day, with activities planned for Fri., Sept. 18 and Sat., Sept. 19.  

Launched in 2018, the community-driven 918 Day holiday features events and activities that celebrate our city and the Tulsans that make our city unique.

This year's celebration features Mayor Nichols’ annual 'Monroe On the Go' community tour of Tulsa and the 918 Day Passport Challenge. The passport challenge gives Tulsans a chance to stop at various locations within the community to receive fun swag and learn more about their city. This year’s celebrations focus on Route 66 for the road's centennial year.

On top of the passport challenge, residents are encouraged to participate in local 918 Day events, visit local businesses, explore Tulsa attractions and celebrate the 918 online and on social media.

Monroe On the Go –Fri., Sept. 18
Throughout the day, Mayor Nichols will visit City of Tulsa facilities, local businesses, schools, community organizations and a few Route 66 locales across Tulsa to recognize the people, organizations and history that make Tulsa special. The tour is a fun way to show Tulsa’s pride and celebrate the day.

918 Day Passport Challenge: Route 66 – Sat., Sept. 19
The 918 Day Passport Challenge is on Saturday, Sept. 19 (the day after 918 Day) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Participants can pick up a Passport Card at any of the 13 designated stops or print their Digital Passport Card at www.cityoftulsa.org/918Day. Passport cards and swag items will be offered at each stop on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Stamps can be collected at each Route 66 location, and participants are encouraged to wear Tulsa-themed clothing while they try to collect all 13 stamps in their passports.

The passport challenge is a fun way to get engaged and see new things across the city while engaging with fellow Tulsans!

• The Blue Dome - Historic Greenwood District and Green Book Travelers Pop Up, 320 E. 2nd St.

• Bonus Stop at the Handmade Market:

    - Tulsa Parks Handmade Market - Veterans Park, 1028 East 6th Street; open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

• Tulsa Parks is hosting its second annual Handmade Market at Veterans Park on Saturday, Sept. 19. Vendors from dozens of local businesses will be on hand with offerings from handmade items to food. Last year, the event drew thousands of visitors from across Tulsa and was also a Passport stop.

While the City does not maintain an exhaustive list of local discounts or other citywide celebrations, many Tulsa businesses will be offering 918 Day-themed deals and happenings. Keep an eye out for sales and offerings at your favorite local businesses.
