City of Tulsa Weather Updates; Early Closures Announced Due to Severe Weather Potential

The City of Tulsa and Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency are monitoring the potential for severe storms this afternoon and evening.

The Emergency Operations Center will be activated at 3 p.m. today to monitor the storms as they come in, and area personnel are ready to respond to any potential impacts.

In preparation for severe weather this afternoon, several City facilities will close early today.

Early closures include:

• Closing at 4 p.m. - All Tulsa Parks Community Centers, including Oxley Nature Center
• Closing at 4 p.m. - Tulsa Animal Services
• Closing at 2 p.m. - Tulsa Zoo
• Closing at 3:30 p.m. - Tulsa Mulch Site

During times of expected severe weather, residents are asked to have their safe place identified and cleaned out and their phones charged. Residents should also have three ways to get emergency notifications (NOAA weather radio, mobile device, being tuned into local news). As a reminder, outdoor warning sirens are meant for outdoor notification - please do not rely on them inside of a dwelling.
