MTTA to Discuss Future of Downtown Bus Station

5/28/2026

On June 11, the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (MTTA) will meet and discuss downtown services for MetroLink Tulsa and how the agency can best align with current day needs and services as the City’s leading transit system.

This is the first step to reimagining Metrolink Tulsa's Denver Avenue Station, which was identified in the 2019 Arena District Master Plan as a site for mixed use development. The June 11 executive session will include discussion of an appraisal and possible sale of the Denver Avenue Station located at 319 S. Denver Ave. with the MTTA Board of Trustees. The Denver Avenue Station is owned and operated by MTTA.

Please note there will not be an impact to current routes or services for MetroLink Tulsa.

With the potential of any real estate development at the site or appraisals needed, the City of Tulsa will remove certain right of way property at the site, which includes landscape boulders.

As background, the boulders were installed in the summer of 2025 as part of a sidewalk improvement project with public safety benefits. At the time, the City was dealing with an uptick in crime from numerous individuals loitering near the station. Since, the City has partnered with MTTA, the Downtown Tulsa Partnership, and other community stakeholders to help with public safety needs and will continue in that work.    8

The boulders are expected to be removed at the end of next week by the City of Tulsa at no cost and will be used at the City’s stormwater facilities.

The Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (MTTA), operating as MetroLink Tulsa, is a public trust created by the City of Tulsa more than 50 years ago. While MetroLink Tulsa operates independently on a day-to-day basis, the City of Tulsa provides critical funding through annual financial apportionments. A Board of Trustees serves as MTTA's governing body.
