Community invited to help save lives by adopting in August

Tulsa Animal Services is joining NBCUniversal Local's national Clear the Shelters campaign by waiving adoption fees for all available dogs and cats throughout the month of August.

The month-long initiative comes as the shelter continues to face overcrowding and works to find loving homes for hundreds of animals in its care.

"Our shelter is full of wonderful dogs and cats waiting for someone to give them a chance," said Tulsa Animal Services Director Sherri Carrier. "Every adoption creates space for us to help another animal in need, and that's what makes this campaign so important. If you've been considering adding a pet to your family, there's never been a better time. We hope you'll visit us this August, meet your new best friend, and help us continue saving lives together."

Throughout August, adoption fees will be waived for all eligible pets. Every adopted animal will still go home with the same valuable care included in every Tulsa Animal Services adoption, including:

Tulsa Animal Services will kick off the campaign with Puppy Extravaganza on Saturday, August 1, featuring extended adoption hours from noon to 6 p.m. The shelter will also participate in Best Friends Animal Society's Mega Adoption Event during the week of August 24-30, culminating in another special adoption event on Saturday, August 29, also from noon to 6 p.m. During that week, Best Friends Animal Society will reimburse participating shelters for eligible fee-waived adoptions, helping Tulsa Animal Services continue its lifesaving work.

Residents are encouraged to visit the shelter throughout August to meet adoptable pets and give an animal a second chance. Every adoption not only changes one pet's life; it creates space for another animal in need.

Available pets can be viewed online at www.24PetConnect.com/TulsaAdoptablePets or by visiting Tulsa Animal Services during normal business hours.
