Tulsa Rings in Lunar New Year with Reflection on Historic Attendance at January’s Inaugural Tulsa Asia Fest

Nearly 10,000 Attend City's First Large-Scale Celebration of Asian Cultures in Tulsa

As communities around the world celebrated Lunar New Year yesterday, the City of Tulsa Asian Affairs Commission is reflecting on the remarkable growth of the local celebrations of Tulsa's Asian community after nearly 8,000 to 10,000 residents attended the inaugural Tulsa Asia Fest on Jan. 31, 2026.

The festival expanded on the Commission's 2025 Lunar New Year celebration, which drew approximately 2,5000 attendees and inspired the vision for a larger, citywide cultural festival.

Tulsa Asia Fest had representation from over 30 countries across the Asian continent featuring nine Asian food vendors, 25 community education and cultural organizations, and 20 marketplace vendors.

Established in 2023, the commission is committed to identifying and honoring the needs of our growing Asian community, and plans to establish the festival as an annual celebration of Asian cultures in Tulsa.

“We were able to accomplish the scale of the event thanks to our dedicated community members, volunteers and commissioners who brought this vision to life," said Sofia Nagda Noshay, Asian Affairs Commissioner and Tulsa Asia Fest Chair. "By unifying a continent of cultures across language, religion, and history around our shared identity as Tulsans, we witnessed the strengthening of our city’s community fabric where our heritage was honored by neighbors from every corner of the city.”

The Asian Affairs Commission is comprised of 14 representatives from the Asian community in Tulsa. It serves to strengthen representation and create infrastructure to celebrate and elevate Asian Tulsans.

The commission meets at noon on the first Tuesday of each month (except July and December) at City Hall, 175 East 2nd Street, 4th Floor, Committee Room.
