City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal.
Due to a fire at the Tulsa Recycle Transfer Facility (TRT), the City’s contracted recycling process facility, the City of Tulsa will send residential recycling to Covanta’s Trash to Energy Plant while repairs are being made at the TRT facility. Recycling customers should continue to place recycling in the blue cart and trash in the gray cart.

918 Day (Sept. 18) is almost here and the City of Tulsa has a variety of options for Tulsans to get involved as we celebrate our city’s diversity and growth. The City launched 918 Day in 2018 as part of the Resilient Tulsa Strategy, which calls for increasing social cohesion by facilitating connections and community-building in all corners of the city. This year’s theme is, “Rising Through Resilience.” To celebrate 918 Day, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) will host a variety of activities, many of which are virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayor G.T. Bynum, Tulsa Parks officials, and community partners gathered September 29 to announce plans to build an inclusive playground at Whiteside Park, 4009 S. Pittsburg Ave. When completed, this new playground will be one of the most inclusive play spaces in the state of Oklahoma.

Mayor G.T. Bynum and Housing Policy Director Becky Gligo announced the City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy, with some of its first phases underway and others set to rollout in the first quarter of 2020. The City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy hinges on four core values to develop strategies to strengthen neighborhoods, preserve and develop affordable housing opportunities, reduce evictions and help lower the number of Tulsans facing homelessness. Gligo says the strategy is vital to Tulsa’s future, as Tulsa lacks more than 4,000 quality affordable housing units and ranks as the 11th highest evictor in the nation.
Mayor Bynum has announced Blake Ewing will serve as his Chief of Staff beginning Sept. 6, 2022. The Chief of Staff is responsible for providing strategy and project management for the Mayor’s Administration, including comprehensive strategic direction for the city.
Following the completed summer 2021 excavation and initial lab analysis work at Oaklawn Cemetery, researchers from the University of Oklahoma - Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (OAS) and the 1921 Graves Physical Investigation Committee will present their findings to the Public Oversight Committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation on Tuesday, March 1, at 5 p.m.
