The City launched 918 Day in 2018 as part of the Resilient Tulsa Strategy, which calls for increasing social cohesion by facilitating connections and community-building in all corners of the city. This year’s theme is, “Rising Through Resilience.” To celebrate 918 Day, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) will host a variety of activities, many of which are virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Public Oversight Committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation will meet virtually Thurs., Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. Researchers from the physical investigation team will answer questions about their report on the test excavations in July and October at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Since the return of curbside recycling January 31, the City of Tulsa has noticed a higher-than-average number of contaminated recycling carts. Most contamination has been seen in the form of plastic bags, Styrofoam, and other non-recyclable materials. Contaminated carts are not picked up and are identified with a yellow or white tag.
City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Monday, Nov. 12, for the City’s observance of Veterans Day, with a few exceptions. Public safety and mission critical operations will operate as normal.
