March 17 Update on COVID-19 Response in Tulsa, including an executive order from Mayor Bynum closing bars and all commercial establishments and places of public accommodation, including restaurants, food courts and large entertainment venues.
City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal. City contract crews continue to remove overhanging or unstable branches, limbs, or trees in the right of way or public spaces following the June 18 storm. More than 45,000 hanging branches in the public rights-of-way, over sidewalks, and in Parks have been identified for removal. Currently, 14,191 have been removed.
On Monday, September 18, Mayor G.T. Bynum, the Tulsa Global Alliance, and members of local nonprofit Mainsprings announced Tulsa has started the process of adding Mwanza, Tanzania, to its network of Sister Cities. Mwanza will be Tulsa's first Sister City added to its network in the last 18 years.
The City of Tulsa has maintained its Class 2 rating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System, a voluntary program in which communities that go beyond the minimum floodplain management requirements earn flood insurance discounts for residents. The Federal Emergency Management Agency in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security administers the program.
