The City of Tulsa continues its winter weather response after treating slick spots on roadways throughout the night. Morning shift drivers from the field have been called back in to work this morning. Crews will be spending the day cleaning and checking the trucks in preparation for our next response, which is expected to start tonight, as the current forecast shows snow and freezing rain starting at midnight tonight. Morning shift crews are expected to report back at midnight to respond to the forecasted weather tomorrow, which we expect to last through 5 p.m. Wednesday. Crews will make adjustments to this plan as warranted if any changes occur in the current forecast.
Five citywide town hall meetings have been scheduled for presentations, citizens’ questions and comments about the Improve Our Tulsa renewal, scheduled for a vote on Nov. 12. “Improve Our Tulsa is our basic streets and infrastructure program, and because of voter support for it in 2013 we’ve made critical progress in rehabilitating our roads after decades of neglect - but there is much more work to do,” Mayor G.T. Thursday we had the honor of hosting the Third Children’s Naturalization Ceremony at the Gathering Place. Ninety children from 26 different countries - Brazil, Burma, Cameroon, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Iraq, Israel, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Australia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and Vietnam - became US. Citizens.
Mayor Bynum delivered his State of the City address in Downtown Tulsa to more than 1,000 people as part of the Tulsa Regional Chamber Luncheon. During his speech, Mayor Bynum highlighted the many economic development and quality of life successes from this past year and announced new initiatives planned to further make Tulsa a globally competitive, world-class city by creating a safe community and creating opportunity for all.
