On March 6, the first Tulsa County resident was confirmed positive for COVID-19. On July 23, 1 percent of Tulsa County residents had tested positive for COVID-19. By August 30, more than 2 percent of Tulsa County tested positive. As long as the virus continues to spread in the community, residents are at risk of contracting the virus. Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for severe illness that may result in hospitalization, intensive care, a ventilator or even death. A WNBA basketball goal used by the Tulsa Shock, the former marquee from the BOK Center, and distinctive coin collections will be among the many items up for bids at the next City of Tulsa Surplus Property Auction. The auction will be held Saturday, April 27, at the City of Tulsa surplus property facility, 108 N. Trenton Ave., beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Tulsa, in partnership with the M.e.t., will collect and dispose of leftover and used cooking oils such as peanut, canola and vegetable oil. This event will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the M.e.t. Depot at 3495 S. Sheridan Road.

After a recommendation from the Greenwood Cultural Center Board, Mayor G.T. Bynum selected the Moody Nolan / JCJ Architecture team to lead the Greenwood Cultural Center’s renovation project. Moody Nolan will oversee the design and serve as a cultural adviser for the renovations, JCJ Architecture will be the local architect of record.

The Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) is hosting its third round of equity dialogues on January 18 to coincide with the National Day of Racial Healing.
Eric Lee will serve as the next director of the City’s Water and Sewer Department effective immediately. Lee, who has been serving as the Operations Administrative Manager for the Water and Sewer Department, will initially serve concurrently with current director Clayton Edwards until his retirement in February.
The Tulsa Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity is partnering with Block Builderz to provide resources for justice-involved Tulsans by hosting a fair on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Rudisill Library, 1520 N. Hartford. This resource fair, called Sowing Hope, will precede two other upcoming events aimed at supporting the justice-involved.
Mayor G.T. Bynum has named Rodrigo Rojas as his Deputy Chief of Staff effective Jan. 19. Rojas will serve in Mayor’s Bynum’s cabinet with a focus on community development and engagement.
