1921 Graves Public Oversight Committee Agrees to Move Forward with Further Test Excavation and Core Sampling in Oaklawn Cemetery

The Public Oversight Committee for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Investigation met virtually on Sept. 14 at 5:30 p.m. to receive an update from the physical investigation committee regarding the initial test excavation and additional geophysical research conducted at the Clyde Eddy site within the Oaklawn Cemetery.

City of Tulsa Thanksgiving Operations and Closings

City Hall, Municipal Court and other City facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be no refuse, recycling, bulky waste or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 24. As a result, Thursday and Friday customers will experience a change in their collection schedule. Thursday customers will receive collection service on Friday and Friday customers will receive collection service on Saturday.

The City of Tulsa is preparing for winter weather and extremely cold temperatures expected on Thursday. Street crews are applying brine (water/salt mixture) today on bridges, hills and other elevated surfaces. Morning shift crews will report to work at 3 a.m. tomorrow to be available to treat the roads as needed with salt.

Tulsa Animal Services and the Tulsa Fire Department have partnered to launch a new microchip scanner program designed to reunite lost pets with their families more quickly. Through a Best Friends Animal Society grant, every Tulsa Fire Station is now equipped with a handheld pet microchip scanner.
