Press Release: April 5, 2024: Oxley Nature Center Announces Author and Poet Sasha Martin as the 2024 Artist-in-Residence
The State of Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (OAS) based at the University of Oklahoma, has completed the geophysical and scanning work at two of the three sites that were originally identified for initial scanning based on data and historian reports from the 2001 State Commissioned Report of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
Starting May 10, curbside trash and recycling pickup for Tulsa residential customers will begin at 5 a.m. temporarily. Customers should have their trash and recyclables out at 5 a.m. or put it at the curb the night before, to be sure they are not missed. Pickup times may change with this new schedule.

Starting July 5, 2023, all planning activities for properties within Tulsa city limits will be performed by the Tulsa Planning Office on the fourth floor of Tulsa City Hall, 175 E. 2nd St.
Wednesday evening, the Tulsa City Council voted to approve ballot language for Improve Our Tulsa, an $814 million funding package that will not raise taxes, but fund critical improvements to identified City facilities and sites while also providing capital funding for public safety equipment, street maintenance and housing and neighborhoods.
Crews are working to conduct stormwater repairs at E. 14th St. and S. Utica Ave. During this time, Utica will be limited to one lane in each direction. Work is expected to be finished, with all lanes open, by Monday, April 8.

918 Day (Sept. 18) is almost here and the City of Tulsa has a variety of options for Tulsans to get involved as we celebrate our city’s diversity and growth. The City launched 918 Day in 2018 as part of the Resilient Tulsa Strategy, which calls for increasing social cohesion by facilitating connections and community-building in all corners of the city. This year’s theme is, “Rising Through Resilience.” To celebrate 918 Day, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) will host a variety of activities, many of which are virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Capital project construction contracts bid from April through mid-October 2020 broke a record for the City of Tulsa: 64 contracts valued at a total of $239.9 million. These contracts were for many kinds of projects – improvements to the water, sewer and stormwater systems, street rehabilitation and widening, maintenance and improvements to parks and other public facilities, and construction of Vision Tulsa economic development projects.
Tulsa Sobering Center, the City of Tulsa’s jail diversion program is continuing to serve those who suffer with alcoholism or other addictions while connecting them to opportunities for long-term counseling and substance abuse treatment rehabilitation programs.

In order to better assess the circumstances and needs of people experiencing homelessness, several organizations will launch a short-term program this week to contact, educate and connect individuals to services. It has the potential to improve lives and provide higher stability, security and necessities for homeless individuals.
Starting Monday, January 31, curbside recycling will restart in Tulsa. Customers will need to have both their blue and gray carts at the curb by 5 a.m. on their service day. As a reminder, blue carts that contain items that are not recyclable in our recycling stream will not be picked up.
