The City of Tulsa offers several different Benefits Options to fit your budget and lifestyle. The City gives employees a generous Benefit Allowance to spend on benefits and offers a "Private Exchange-Style" Plan that gives you the freedom to pick and choose the benefits that are right for you.

You are eligible for most benefits on the first of the month following thirty days of full-time employment.

Vision Coverage - MetLife

MetLife provides four options. More expensive monthly options reduce copays, increase hardware allowances, and increase the frequency of hardware reimbursements.

Life Insurance - MetLife
Employee coverage equal to two times annual base salary is provided at no cost to the employee.  Supplemental Life and AD&D coverage is available up to $500,000.00, including coverage for spouses and dependents. All pricing is based on age and the amount of coverage.

Telemedicine - Teladoc
The plan allows you to contact U.S. board certified doctors by phone or video chat to discuss and diagnose minor illness like cold and flu symptoms, allergies, urinary tract infections, and more. Service is available at all hours every day.

Long-term Disability Insurance - MetLife
Three options provide coverage at 40%, 50%, or 60% of salary up to $10,000.00 monthly. Coverage begins on the 180 day after disability. Pricing is based on coverage option, compensation, and age.

Short-term Disability Insurance - MetLife
Three options provide coverage at 40%, 50%, or 60%. Coverage begins on the 8th day after disability. Pricing is based on coverage option, compensation, and age.

Accident - Allstate
A pre-tax benefit that provides direct payment for non-work related accidents. Wellness benefit: for any doctor visit, pays $100 twice year or four times per year for family coverage.

Employee AD&D Insurance-MetLife
Allows you to protect your family should something happen due to an accident. Coverage ranges from $25K to $500K.   Coverage for spouse and/or children also available.

Critical Illness - Allstate
This pre-tax benefit provides a lump sum payment based on your election of $10,000 or $20,000  for certain critical illnesses (heart attack, stroke, invasive cancer, etc). Wellness Benefit: for available, plan pays $100.00 once annually. Pricing is based on age and tobacco usage.

Hospital Indemnity
This pre-tax benefit provides payments for inpatient admissions, each day of inpatient stay, inpatient rehabilitation, and family hotel if 50 miles from home. There are two options available, and pricing is four tiers: employee only, empl plus spouse, empl plus children, and family.

Flexible Spending Account - WageWorks
This account allows you to pay for unreimbursed medical, dental, prescription, vision and child care expenses with pretax dollars. This lowers your taxable income which means you keep more of your money.  Debit cards are provided for the medical FSAs.

Health Savings Accounts - WageWorks
This account can only be opened with the medical plans marked "HSA". These accounts are employee owned, you to pay for unreimbursed medical, dental, prescription, vision and child care expenses with pretax dollars. The amount you can save from year to year is much greater than FSAs. Mutual investments and retirement withdrawals are available.
Legal Plan - Hyatt Legal
This plan provides a variety of legal services, involving wills, trusts, contracts, divorce, and routine traffic tickets. Plan does not cover criminal cases or drunk driving offenses.

Pet Insurance-VPI
VPI Pet Insurance will help cover your expenses if your pet needs office visits, prescriptions, diagnostic tests, hospitalizations or surgeries. You can cover almost any pet: dogs, cats, birds, ferret, reptiles and other exotic pets. Breed, age and other factors will determine coverage and price.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The City of Tulsa offers a confidential employee assistance program for employees and/or immediate family members who are experiencing personal problems.  Private appointments can be made for any type of personal problem(s) that may be too much to handle alone. This assistance is available through Community Care EAP at (918) 594-5232.

Wellness Program/Fitness Classes
The City of Tulsa offers multiple wellness opportunities and fitness classes to employees. Lunch and Learns are held regularly, along with free massage opportunities and free fitness classes at City Hall and Boeing Park. Discounts are also offered at various gyms throughout Tulsa and the surrounding areas.  To find out more about the Wellness program select the "Health and Wellness" option on the City of Tulsa intranet site.

Retirement Plan - MERP
Employees are required to defer 6.5% on a pre-tax basis. Full-time employees will begin participation in the plan on the first day of the month following their first day of employment.  The City of Tulsa's contribution to the retirement fund equals 11.5% of your earnings. The Rule of 80 provides retirement income when continuous service and age equal 80.

Deferred Compensation Plan - Fidelity (Traditional 457 & Roth 457)
To help supplement your retirement income, this voluntary plan permits you to defer a minimum of $10.00 per pay period  pre-tax or Roth. The City of Tulsa will deposit an additional $.50 for every dollar of employee contribution up to a maximum of $25.00 per month during the first two years of initial participation in the plan. In-Plan Roth Conversions are also allowed. Employees may begin participation in the plan immediately.

Internal Promotions & Progression Policy
The City of Tulsa posts all non-entry vacancies through the Internal Career Opportunities Bulletin first. This provides employees initial consideration for a higher level position vacancies, offering them better pay and more career growth. In addition, many positions offer benefits through a progression policy.  This policy enables employees, as they gain experience, education, and expand their job in their current position, to increase their pay. Employees may apply for internal positions after six months from initial hire date.

Initial Probationary Period
Upon initial appointment to a classified position with the City of Tulsa, an employee shall serve a twelve (12) month probationary period.

The amount of vacation time to be accrued upon completion of each calendar month of service by regular employees is as follows: Note: Must be employed a minimum of three months to be eligible for vacation days (¼ of yearly accrual).

Sick Leave
Eligible employees may receive sick leave during their first year of employment.  An accrual of twelve days per year is granted only for sick leave purposes.  An employee may accrue a maximum of 150 working days of sick leave. An employee may exchange one sick day for a vacation day, based on accrual beyond 120 days.

City of Tulsa employees working at One Technology Center are eligible to receive discounted, convenient downtown parking. The City of Tulsa subsidizes a portion of the cost of either parking or MTTA bus passes. There are four lots to choose from:

Credit Union
City of Tulsa employees may be a member of the Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union. This membership offers savings accounts, no monthly fee checking accounts, ATM/Debit Cards (with open checking account), share certificates and IRA's.
