The City of Tulsa is continuing to treat Tulsa’s roadways as freezing drizzle falls across the city. Crews are treating all arterial routes with salt. Because the National Weather Service has updated their forecast, which shows freezing drizzle continuing until at least 11 p.m. tonight, the City is moving to a 24-hour response.

Mayor G.T. Bynum, Adjutant General Michael Thompson, and 138th Fighter Wing Commander Colonel Michael Meason led a ribbon cutting at the Air National Guard Mission Training Center, a Vision Tulsa project. The training center is located on the Tulsa Air National Guard Base, home of the 138th Fighter Wing.
The three eastbound lanes on East 71st Street just west of Mingo Road (9808 E. 71st St.) are closed due to pavement buckling, likely heat related. Traffic is detoured around the closure.
Mayor G.T. Bynum announced the City of Tulsa and USA BMX have reached an agreement to secure a 30-year commitment in Tulsa. Through funding provided by voters in Vision Tulsa, the City will construct a new National Headquarters, National Track Stadium containing both an Olympic-caliber and Amateur Track, and Hall of Fame Museum at the Evans Fintube site in Tulsa.

The City of Tulsa’s Equipment Management Division in the Asset Management Department has won the 2021 No. 1 Fleet Award from The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas – including North and South America. Other contest sponsors were the National Association of Fleet Administrators and North Carolina State University Clean Transportation. Equipment Management (EMD) maintains the City of Tulsa’s vehicle fleet, including police and fire vehicles.
To coordinate with the opening of Phase 1 of the Gathering Place, Riverside Drive will open to traffic between 21st Street and 41st Street at 6 a.m. Sept. 10.
