Mayor Bynum, Housing Policy Director Announce City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy

Mayor G.T. Bynum and Housing Policy Director Becky Gligo announced the City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy, with some of its first phases underway and others set to rollout in the first quarter of 2020. The City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy hinges on four core values to develop strategies to strengthen neighborhoods, preserve and develop affordable housing opportunities, reduce evictions and help lower the number of Tulsans facing homelessness. Gligo says the strategy is vital to Tulsa’s future, as Tulsa lacks more than 4,000 quality affordable housing units and ranks as the 11th highest evictor in the nation.

Lacy Park Community Center features a state-of-the-art fitness center; multi-purpose rooms used for dance classes, social activities, education programs, holiday and special events; as well as full gymnasium. Local nonprofit arts organizations are invited to apply for the fifth round of Vision Arts grants managed by the City of Tulsa, Tulsa Arts Commission, and Tulsa Planning Office. Vision Arts 5 is now open for applications to be submitted through Friday, Dec. 22, at 5 p.m. These grants support nonprofit art organizations in creating economic development opportunities in Tulsa.

Ribbon Cutting Held at the New Air National Guard Mission Training Center

Mayor G.T. Bynum, Adjutant General Michael Thompson, and 138th Fighter Wing Commander Colonel Michael Meason led a ribbon cutting at the Air National Guard Mission Training Center, a Vision Tulsa project. The training center is located on the Tulsa Air National Guard Base, home of the 138th Fighter Wing.

Resilient Tulsa Offers Resource Fair for Justice-Involved Tulsans

The Tulsa Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity is partnering with Block Builderz to provide resources for justice-involved Tulsans by hosting a fair on Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Rudisill Library, 1520 N. Hartford. This resource fair, called Sowing Hope, will precede two other upcoming events aimed at supporting the justice-involved.
