The Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity and the Community Service Council have released the fourth annual Tulsa Equality Indicators Scores, Covid-19 Community Impact Survey Findings, and Data for Action Resource Guide.
The Greenwood Art Project invites the public to view and participate in the first installations by its commissioned artists. On April 4, Yielbonzie Johnson will present “Lives on the Line – a Greenwood Arts Project” at the Church of the Restoration, 1314 N. Greenwood Ave., from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. A program is scheduled for 2 p.m.
To provide more accessibility and convenience for those with municipal citations, Tulsa Municipal Court will start Thursday Night Court starting September 7, 2023. During Thursday Night Court, Tulsa Municipal Court hours will extend its hours until 7 p.m. to accommodate individuals with obligations during regular court hours who may find it challenging to appear for their citations.
City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Thursday, July 4, for Independence Day. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal. Tulsa Animal Services and the Tulsa Fire Department have partnered to launch a new microchip scanner program designed to reunite lost pets with their families more quickly. Through a Best Friends Animal Society grant, every Tulsa Fire Station is now equipped with a handheld pet microchip scanner.
Start spring cleaning by ridding your home of chemicals and potentially hazardous items. A Household Pollutant Disposal Special Event is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Tulsa’s Household Pollutant Collection Facility, 4502 S. Galveston Ave. In addition to the usually accepted items, special items accepted only at this event are tires, e-waste (television - $21 fee; monitor - $10 fee), medications and ammunition. No appointment is necessary for the special event.
Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 officials came to town today to announce that Tulsa has been awarded a $500,000 Brownfield cleanup grant to remove asbestos from a vacant portion of City-owned Air Force Plant 3. The facility currently houses Navistar, Spirit Aerosystems and Nordam. This cleanup will allow for expansion at this facility and creation of new jobs.
Tulsa has moved up in 2021 from a Class 2 ranking to a Class 1, the highest possible ranking in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System. With Tulsa’s Class 1 rating, National Flood Insurance Program policies issued or renewed in the city limits are eligible for a 45-percent discount in premium costs starting in April 2022.
The City of Tulsa is still trying to increase storage tank levels due to the amount of water being lost throughout the water system and continues to implement operational changes necessary to replenish storage tank levels. Residents are asked to continue to conserve water until the water situation fully stabilizes.

Mayor G.T. Bynum recognized the winners of the 2020 Women of the Year-Pinnacle Awards at a ceremony in City Hall. The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women and YWCA Tulsa present these awards annually to recognize outstanding achievements by Tulsa women.
