Beginning in October, certain fixed rate structures on City of Tulsa utility bills are changing. Rate changes will result in the typical City of Tulsa residential utility bill increasing by about $7/month. Rate changes are due to inflation, supply chain challenges, and increases in contract prices between the City and its vendors.

EPA Announces Tulsa Will Receive $500K Brownfields Grant

Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 officials came to town today to announce that Tulsa has been awarded a $500,000 Brownfield cleanup grant to remove asbestos from a vacant portion of City-owned Air Force Plant 3. The facility currently houses Navistar, Spirit Aerosystems and Nordam. This cleanup will allow for expansion at this facility and creation of new jobs.

Mayor Bynum, Housing Policy Director Announce City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy

Mayor G.T. Bynum and Housing Policy Director Becky Gligo announced the City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy, with some of its first phases underway and others set to rollout in the first quarter of 2020. The City of Tulsa Affordable Housing Strategy hinges on four core values to develop strategies to strengthen neighborhoods, preserve and develop affordable housing opportunities, reduce evictions and help lower the number of Tulsans facing homelessness. Gligo says the strategy is vital to Tulsa’s future, as Tulsa lacks more than 4,000 quality affordable housing units and ranks as the 11th highest evictor in the nation.

City Hall, Facilities to Close Dec. 24, 25 for Christmas, Jan. 1 for New Year’s

City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday, and Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, for the New Year’s holiday. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal. The City continues its restoration of systems and services following a ransomware attack discovered in May. Various electronic payment functions are back in service, and most City locations are now accepting debit and credit cards. For citizen reporting and general questions, or questions about a water bill, residents should continue to call 311, and press 0, during business hours.

City of Tulsa Recycling Diverting to Trash to Energy Plant; Recycling Customers Should Continue to Place Recycling in Blue Cart

Due to a fire at the Tulsa Recycle Transfer Facility (TRT), the City’s contracted recycling process facility, the City of Tulsa will send residential recycling to Covanta’s Trash to Energy Plant while repairs are being made at the TRT facility. Recycling customers should continue to place recycling in the blue cart and trash in the gray cart.
