Mayor G.T. Bynum recognized the winners of the 2020 Women of the Year-Pinnacle Awards at a ceremony in City Hall. The Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women and YWCA Tulsa present these awards annually to recognize outstanding achievements by Tulsa women.
To provide more accessibility and convenience for those with municipal citations, Tulsa Municipal Court will start Thursday Night Court starting September 7, 2023. During Thursday Night Court, Tulsa Municipal Court hours will extend its hours until 7 p.m. to accommodate individuals with obligations during regular court hours who may find it challenging to appear for their citations.
The Greenwood Art Project invites the public to view and participate in the first installations by its commissioned artists. On April 4, Yielbonzie Johnson will present “Lives on the Line – a Greenwood Arts Project” at the Church of the Restoration, 1314 N. Tulsa Animal Services and the Tulsa Fire Department have partnered to launch a new microchip scanner program designed to reunite lost pets with their families more quickly. Through a Best Friends Animal Society grant, every Tulsa Fire Station is now equipped with a handheld pet microchip scanner.
Tulsa has moved up in 2021 from a Class 2 ranking to a Class 1, the highest possible ranking in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System. With Tulsa’s Class 1 rating, National Flood Insurance Program policies issued or renewed in the city limits are eligible for a 45-percent discount in premium costs starting in April 2022.
Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 officials came to town today to announce that Tulsa has been awarded a $500,000 Brownfield cleanup grant to remove asbestos from a vacant portion of City-owned Air Force Plant 3. The facility currently houses Navistar, Spirit Aerosystems and Nordam. This cleanup will allow for expansion at this facility and creation of new jobs.

Frankfort Ave. on Sat., Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. to formally rename Chamberlain Recreation Center to the Jane A. Malone Center in Chamberlain Park.

Restore Hope Ministries has been selected by the City of Tulsa and Tulsa County as the lead agency to administer $19.6 million in critical federal funding to provide much needed rent and utility relief to Tulsa City and County residents. The Emergency Rental and Utility Assistance Program (ERAP), under guidelines set forth by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, will help landlords and tenants by paying past due rent, utilities (water, gas, and electric) and, in some cases, forward rent for up to three months to ensure housing stability.
