Tulsa’s water won the Oklahoma Water Taste Contest last week in Norman at the annual conference of the Oklahoma Water Environment Association/American Public Works Association. This win allows Tulsa’s water to advance to the next contest at the Southwest American Water Works Association conference in Lafayette, La., in October. Join Tulsa Fire this week as they recognize Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters will be visiting local schools to talk with kids about the importance of fire safety and host a poster contest for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Winners will win a ride to school in a fire truck. On Thursday, five stations will be hosting open houses for residents.

After talking with the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ), the City of Tulsa has issued a voluntary boil order until further notice for Tulsa water customers who have experienced low water pressure, are seeing discolored water, and those who have recently had water service restored after their water was shutoff for waterline repairs.
Capital project construction contracts bid from April through mid-October 2020 broke a record for the City of Tulsa: 64 contracts valued at a total of $239.9 million. These contracts were for many kinds of projects – improvements to the water, sewer and stormwater systems, street rehabilitation and widening, maintenance and improvements to parks and other public facilities, and construction of Vision Tulsa economic development projects.
