Household Pollutant Disposal Special Event Scheduled for March 30

Start spring cleaning by ridding your home of chemicals and potentially hazardous items. A Household Pollutant Disposal Special Event is scheduled for Saturday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Tulsa’s Household Pollutant Collection Facility, 4502 S. Galveston Ave. In addition to the usually accepted items, special items accepted only at this event are tires, e-waste (television - $21 fee; monitor - $10 fee), medications and ammunition. No appointment is necessary for the special event.

City Councilors, City Auditor Sworn-In

Nine City Councilors and the City Auditor were sworn-in today during a ceremony at the University of Tulsa's Lorton Performance Center. City Auditor Cathy Criswell is serving her fourth term and four new City Councilors began their first two-year term in office.

Today, Mayor G.T. Bynum, Tulsa Health Department (THD) Executive Director Dr. Dart, Tulsa County Commissioner Stan Sallee and Dr. Dr. Damon Baker, Chief Medical Officer for OSU Medical Center gave an update on COVID-19 in the Tulsa area. During the news conference, Mayor Bynum shared that hospitalization levels continue to see a downward trend. In the Tulsa area, a month ago, on August 16, the Tulsa area reached the peak of this current surge with 27.9 percent of all hospital patients diagnosed with COVID-19. As of today, that level is down to 16.6 percent. Mayor Bynum said this percentage is still too high, but thanked individuals for doing their part to help protect our community.

The State and Tulsa Health Departments have confirmed three residents in Tulsa County have tested positive with Coronavirus-COVID-19 from travel – one has already recovered. As with the flu, the COVID-19 virus is spread from person-to-person contact. With confirmed cases in Tulsa and the weekend announcement of community spread in Oklahoma, we need to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions by following basic health tips on hand washing and social distancing.
