With the sudden temperature changes in recent days from warm to cool and cold, the City of Tulsa has geared up preparations in case Tulsa receives some early winter weather. The Streets and Stormwater Department is watching weather forecasts and conditions to be ready for whenever the first winter storm comes, and for other storms that may occur this season.
The new Student Success and Career Center on the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus revolutionizes the college onboarding and career process. Designed with the student in mind, the facility allows students to meet with answer center specialists, academic advisors, career specialists and local companies. The $5.3 million facility, part of the Vision Tulsa package approved by voters in 2016, is now part of the campus at 10300 E. 81st Street.
The City of Tulsa will offer its third Emergency Repair Grants workshop Thursday, Sept. 28, for residents who live within Tulsa city limits and need help applying for grants of up to $7,500 meant to help with emergency repairs.
The City of Tulsa has maintained its Class 2 rating in the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System, a voluntary program in which communities that go beyond the minimum floodplain management requirements earn flood insurance discounts for residents. The City of Tulsa is currently working on 120 waterline breaks due to record-breaking temperatures. Due to this unprecedented event in the history of our water supply and distribution system, the number of waterline breaks and customers letting faucets drip, the City’s water storage tank levels are low which could compromise emergent public safety and healthcare needs. To address storage tank levels, the City of Tulsa will have 35 crews (14 City crews and 21 contract crews) in the field working to address waterline breaks.
