EPA Announces Tulsa Will Receive $500K Brownfields Grant

Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 officials came to town today to announce that Tulsa has been awarded a $500,000 Brownfield cleanup grant to remove asbestos from a vacant portion of City-owned Air Force Plant 3. The facility currently houses Navistar, Spirit Aerosystems and Nordam. This cleanup will allow for expansion at this facility and creation of new jobs.

Utility Customers May Opt In or Out of EMSAcare during Month of August, 2020

Each year in the month of August, Tulsa utility customers have the option to change their enrollment status in the EMSAcare program. They may choose to opt in or opt out of the program. EMSAcare is a subscription program by EMSA (Emergency Medical Services Authority) that covers the costs of emergency medical ambulance transport for all permanent members of households that participate in the program. EMSAcare subscribers either with or without health insurance pay no additional out-of-pocket costs – such as co-payments or deductibles – for emergency ambulance services.

As it stands currently, the Army Corps of Engineers will release 250,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) from Keystone Dam through Thursday, May 30 due to the rain overnight. With more severe weather expected this week, officials will continue to monitor the outflow and duration of the Keystone Dam. The Arkansas River flooding event is staying relatively stable, but erosion and undercutting due to ground saturation is occurring. The River Parks Trail system along River Parks is closed.

The City of Tulsa will kick-off its 12th Annual Stock the Station Food Drive on Monday, Nov. 7, to help Tulsans in need this holiday season. Residents can drop off non-perishable food items to any Tulsa Fire station, Tulsa Police station, and Tulsa City-County Regional Library from Nov. 7 - Dec. 9.
