Tulsa has been selected to receive a $20,000 planning grant from the national Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund) to implement proven financial empowerment programming. Goodwill Industries of Tulsa will partner with the City of Tulsa to offer this free, professional, one-on-one financial counseling as a public service through the creation of a Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) which will be scheduled to open in late 2020.
Artists selected to participate in the Greenwood Art Project have been selected. The Greenwood Art Project will present 34 temporary public artworks celebrating and commemorating a vibrant community in the Historic Greenwood District. This week marks the 99th anniversary of the 1921 Greenwood Race Massacre.
Mayor G.T. Bynum announced Amy Brown will serve as Tulsa’s Deputy Mayor beginning Jan. 14, 2019. “Amy Brown has one of the best minds I’ve encountered in public service at any level. I’ve worked with her for years, both on the City Council and now in the Mayor’s Office. Over the last two years, she has taken on some of our most challenging projects - from improving the city government as a workplace to establishing the Tulsa Jail. The City of Tulsa will offer two additional workshops for those who live within Tulsa city limits and need help applying for grants of up to $7,500 meant to help with emergency repairs related to the June 18 storm.

CNA, a nationally-accredited 21st century policing firm, has named the four co-researchers to help facilitate their plan to advance community policing within the Tulsa Police Department. Working with the firm’s project team, co-researchers will dedicate at least 10-15 hours a month to the project, participate in virtual meetings, identify community stakeholders for feedback, give input and help conduct focus groups and interviews with community members. The final recommendation and evaluation will be completed in the Fall of 2021.
