In its third day of winter weather response, the City of Tulsa is continuing to treat roads as areas of freezing drizzle move through the metro. Over the night, City crews worked to apply salt to Tulsa’s roadways after brine crews treated elevated surfaces up until midnight last night.

City Hall and other City facilities will be closed Monday, May 28, for Memorial Day. Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal.

Coronavirus, Tulsa COVID-19 Update – Sept. 3

On March 6, the first Tulsa County resident was confirmed positive for COVID-19. On July 23, 1 percent of Tulsa County residents had tested positive for COVID-19. By August 30, more than 2 percent of Tulsa County tested positive. As long as the virus continues to spread in the community, residents are at risk of contracting the virus. Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for severe illness that may result in hospitalization, intensive care, a ventilator or even death. The best way to protect yourself, protect the most vulnerable, and help reduce the spread of COVID-19 is to follow the “three W’s”:

The City of Tulsa is monitoring and preparing for winter weather expected later this week. Final preparations are underway to respond to the winter weather event as equipment and crews are readied.

1921 Tulsa Race Massacre Graves Second Test Excavation To Be Completed Today; Oct. 22

After four days, the second test excavation for graves from the 1921 Race Massacre at Oaklawn Cemetery concluded. At least 12 coffins holding human remains have been found where anomalies were previously detected. It is still to be determined whether the burials are associated with the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, as further efforts to determine the identities of those remains and their causes of death continue to be explored.
