City of Tulsa Thanksgiving Operations and Closings

City Hall, Municipal Court and other City facilities will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25, for the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be no refuse, recycling, bulky waste or yard waste collection on Thursday, Nov. 24. As a result, Thursday and Friday customers will experience a change in their collection schedule. Thursday customers will receive collection service on Friday and Friday customers will receive collection service on Saturday.

The Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) and the Community Service Council (CSC) released the third Tulsa Equality Indicators Report, with results showing a continued upward trend.

City Budget

Balancing the budget at the City of Tulsa is not much different than balancing a budget at home. The money going out must not exceed the money coming in. State law requires the City of Tulsa to have a balanced budget. The City of Tulsa receives its money from several major sources, including five local taxes: sales tax, use tax, franchise tax/right-of-way user fees from utility companies, hotel/motel tax, and ad valorem tax. Other sources include enterprise revenues from airport charges, golf course fees, and utility services - water, sewer, refuse and stormwater. The City also obtains revenue from licenses and permits, culture and recreation facilities, municipal court fines, public safety fees, interest earnings, federal grants and shared revenue from state government.

Frankfort Ave. on Sat., Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. to formally rename Chamberlain Recreation Center to the Jane A. Malone Center in Chamberlain Park.
